The Government of India’s flagship program, Startup India, aims to promote startup culture and create a robust, inclusive ecosystem for innovation and entrepreneurship in India. Since the launch of the Initiative on 16th January, 2016, Startup India has rolled out several programs with the objective of supporting entrepreneurs, and transforming India into a country of job creators instead of job seekers.
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry in India houses the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), a central government department. Keeping in mind the national priorities and socio-economic goals, it is in charge of developing and implementing promotional and developmental measures for the industrial sector’s growth. Individual administrative ministries are in charge of the planning, development, and production aspects of the industries that are assigned to them, while DPIIT is in charge of the overall industrial policy. Additionally, it is accountable for facilitating and boosting the country’s FDI flows.
